Lampe Le Faucon en métal recyclé allumée sur une commode – lampe fabriquée à la main par Recyclhome

How is a recycled metal lamp born?

From scrap to lamp: an entirely manual process

A Recyclhome lamp doesn't come out of a factory. It is born from a meeting between a craftsman, his vision, and reclaimed material. Here are the six steps of its creation.

Step 1: Scavenging

It all starts with collecting. Alexandre Chauvelot scavenges in mechanical garages in Ain, flea markets, industrial workshops, and used parts depots in Haute-Savoie. Each piece is selected for its potential: shape, texture, character.

Step 2: Cleaning and treatment

The reclaimed pieces are degreased, brushed, and treated against rust. Some retain their natural patina — a sign of authenticity. Others receive a wax finish or a protective treatment to ensure longevity.

Step 3: Design

No software plans, no digital mock-ups. The design is done by hand, directly by manipulating the pieces. The craftsman assembles, tests, and seeks the balance between aesthetics and solidity.

Step 4: Assembly

Welding, screwing, cold assembly depending on the materials. Each joint is carefully crafted to guarantee the solidity and safety of the final piece.

Step 5: Electrical system installation

The luminaires receive quality wiring, an E27 socket, and a textile cable. Each installation complies with current French electrical standards.

Step 6: Certification

The finished piece receives its serial number on its certificate of authenticity — guaranteeing its uniqueness and its handcrafted French origin.
